Non-recoverable depreciation

The portion of depreciation the policyholder never recovers — the policy does not pay it back.

On a real claim

Non-recoverable depreciation is the part of depreciation the policyholder never gets back, the portion the policy does not pay. On a claim it shows up on an ACV policy or when the property was already past its expected life. What goes wrong: a contractor builds a budget expecting the full replacement cost and the recoverable portion never comes. Check the policy type and how much depreciation is recoverable before you price the job.
