• Override pricing

  Manually replacing a line item's unit price in Xactimate instead of using the price list. Overrides are visible in the estimate and are a frequent point of dispute, because a carrier may reprice the line back to the list price unless the change is documented and justified.

• Per-line pricing

  Charging for an estimate based on the number of line items it contains, so bigger scopes cost more.

• Price override

  A manual change to a unit price that replaces what the price list would charge. Overrides must be documented, because carriers and reviewers reject unexplained ones, and an override on labor or material is where a supplement argument usually starts.

• Pricing dispute

  A disagreement over what a line item, trade, or scope should cost between the contractor, the adjuster, or the carrier's reviewer. Resolve it with documentation - photos, measurements, invoices - rather than by resubmitting the same numbers, and escalate through the carrier's review process if it stalls.

• Pricing list

  The database of unit prices, labor rates, and material costs an estimating platform applies to line items. The list carries its own effective date and region, so two estimates of the same scope can differ simply because they were priced from different lists.

• Profit

  The contractor's margin on a job, after labor, materials, and overhead are covered.
