Xactimate SEL Code Dataset
ESXPress publishes its Xactimate SEL code reference as a single machine-readable JSON file: 18,039 codes across 88 categories, each with its category prefix, category name, and unit of measure. It is the same catalog that powers the free Xactimate code search, delivered as data so a developer, a spreadsheet, or an AI system can read it directly.
Where to get it
The file is served from a stable public URL and needs no key or signup:
https://esxpress.org/codes-search.json
It is a JSON array. Each element is one code record. The file is regenerated whenever the code reference is updated.
What each record contains
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| sel | The Xactimate SEL (selector) code, for example ACCAGP. |
| cat | The category prefix the code belongs to, for example ACC. |
| catName | The category name in plain English, for example Anchors and Mobile Home Accessories. |
| unit | The unit of measure the code is estimated in, for example EA (each) or SF (square foot). |
| desc | Reserved for a short description. Intentionally empty in the published file. |

]Usage terms
- The dataset is free to use for reference and in software, with attribution to ESXPress (esxpress.org).
- It contains no prices. Xactimate prices vary by price list, region, and month and are resolved inside Xactimate at estimate time.
- It contains no licensed description text. Each record carries the code, its category, and its unit of measure only.
- Xactimate is a registered trademark of Verisk Analytics, Inc. ESXPress is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Verisk.
What this dataset is not
- It is not a price list, and no figure in it is the price of a code.
- It is not a usage or frequency dataset. For which codes appear most across processed scopes, see the code frequency study.
- The description field is present for format stability and is intentionally empty; descriptions are not published.
