A small angled piece of flashing installed where a roof's lower edge meets the side wall of a building. It diverts water off the roof into the gutter so it does not run down the wall and into the siding. Missing or poorly installed kickout flashing leads to rot and moisture intrusion behind the wall, and it is often noted during a roof repair or siding replacement.
