Hold harmless agreement

A contract clause where one party agrees to assume another party's liability for certain risks, often included in construction contracts and property owner agreements. In restoration work, hold harmless clauses appear in contracts between property managers and contractors, and they define who is responsible if an additional loss or injury occurs. The contractor should review the language carefully, because the clause can transfer risk that belongs to the insurance policy.
