Estimating & Workflow
The top edge of a hip roof, where the sloping roof planes meet. The hip ridge usually runs horizontally along the top, and it is capped with hip and ridge shingles or covered by a ridge vent. When an estimate lists ridge work, it covers the cap and vent along the peak of the roof. The hip ridge is part of the roof finishing material and is measured separately from the roof planes.
