Estimating & Workflow
An engineer who investigates the cause and extent of damage on a property, usually after a major loss such as a fire, collapse, or severe storm. The forensic engineer gathers evidence, tests materials, and writes a report that explains how the damage happened. That report is used in disputes between carriers and policyholders, and it often helps decide whether the loss is covered. Restoration contractors coordinate with the engineer when a claim is challenged.
